My cousin owns a little slice of heaven in Alexandria Bay, New York – just before Canada off 81 North. On this trip, we planned a couples’ getaway. It is nice to know someone who is familiar with the area, it is like having our own personal tour guide.

The guys like bourbon and the girls prefer wine, so we planned a two-day tasting tour. One day we played chauffer and drove the guys from distillery to distillery, and the next day they drove us from winery to winery. We found everything from smokey bourbon to sweet wine.

Although I am partial to semi-sweet to sweet wines, there is a bourbon cream, Empire Cream, at St. Lawrence Spirits that is good enough to sip right out of the class. It’s also good in hot chocolate – or my favorite, drizzled over ice cream!
