When visiting A Bay, I stay at Capt. Thompson Resort. The views from the balcony are breathtaking! You are right on the water, literally. Step outside, look down and you are looking into the water.

Using an app called Vessel Finder, you can track freightliners as they travel the St. Lawrence River. It shows where they are coming from, where they are going, and how long their voyage will take. This ship, The Andean, was travelling between South America and Vancouver. These ships are massive; this one is 184 feet long. They aren’t loud, but you can feel a slight rumble as they pass by.

While relaxing on the balcony you have a stunning view of Boldt Castle, also known as Heart Island Castle. After a full day of sipping and snacking, you get to watch the sun set. Watching the sun set over the river is a whole new kind of magic! As much fun as I have in A Bay, this view is my favorite. I don’t know what it is about water, but it puts my soul at peace. This is the perfect view to end any day.
